Most people start keyword research by opening a tool and typing random words they THINK customers search for. Wrong. Completely backwards.
Here’s what you should do first:
Go through your customer communications. All of them. Emails, DMs, calls, texts, reviews—anywhere customers talk TO you or ABOUT you.
Why? Because your customers are literally handing you keyword gold and you’re ignoring it.
Real scenario from my client work:
Client ran a cleaning business. Their website said “Professional residential and commercial sanitation services.”
Fancy, right? Zero traffic.
I said, “Let me see your customer emails.”
