Do you know what your audience searches in Google? #shorts
Let me tell you about the most expensive mistake in SEO: using the wrong words. 💸
You’ve got a great business. A solid website. Quality services. But nobody’s finding you on Google because you’re speaking a different language than your customers.
Here’s what’s happening:
You’re optimizing your website for words that sound professional and impressive to YOU and other people in your industry. Meanwhile, your actual customers are Googling completely different phrases.
How to discover your audience’s keywords:
1. Google Autocomplete Test
Start typing your service into Google and see what autocompletes. Those suggestions are based on REAL searches from REAL people.
2. People Also Ask
Scroll through any search results and look at the “People also ask” section. These are related questions your audience has.
3. Listen to Your Customers
Record sales calls (with permission) or take notes. What exact words do they use to describe their problem? That’s your keyword gold.
4. Check Reddit & Forums
See how people in your industry talk when they’re NOT trying to sound professional. That’s authentic language.
5. Use Free Tools
Google Keyword Planner (free with a Google Ads account)
AnswerThePublic (shows questions people ask)
Google Search Console (shows what you ALREADY rank for)
The mindset shift you need:
Stop optimizing for the words you WISH people searched for. Start optimizing for the words they ACTUALLY use.
Speak their language. Solve their problem. Show up in their search results.
That’s it. That’s the whole strategy.
